It seems with the success of Joe Bob Briggs The Last Drive-In, which aired live on Shudder recently, other horror entities have begun to take notice of the craving amongst horror fans for live stream parties. This Friday, Fangoria will be hosting a live watch party for their new film, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich...

[Review] "Pool Party Massacre" aka Killer Saves World from Horrible Teenagers

8/15/2018

Picture
There's only one thing that can improve a pool party full of stuck up rich babes lathered in the lotion of white privilege, and that's sweet, sweet murder! The world would be better off after all, because the kind of people populating Pool Party Massacre are the last people on earth that should be allowed to procreate and effectively lower the collective IQ...

[Review] "Slender Man" suffers from an anorexic plot

It isn’t every day that the horror genre sees the birth of a new icon. In fact, it’s been awhile since such a thing has been done, the most notable being the creation of Jigsaw, way back in 2004 with Saw. While I’d love to say Slender Man has given us the next, great horror villain to haunt our dreams, the film instead drops the ball so hard that it will be lucky if it’s even remembered as some vague myth like the creation it’s based on…

[Review] "The Meg" is a toothless, mega-sized disappointment

Bravo, Warner Brothers. You hear that? That’s me clapping. I’m applauding you. What for? Well, for The Meg, obviously. Come again? Oh, no, haha. I’m not applauding you because I loved it. Hell no! The sound of my fist meat lazily slapping together is called sarcasm. With a capital S. I’m not just congratulating you for fooling us all with clever marketing and the promise of a fun horror adventure that has little to none of either. I’m also commending you on how impressively you’ve managed to completely mangle the adaptation of a truly horrific horror novel…

Revisiting Candle Cove: A look back at "Channel Zero" and why you should be watching on Shudder

Back in October of 2016, the Syfy channel aired season one of Channel Zero, entitled Channel Zero: Candle Cove. Like many fans I’ve spoken to, there’s a good chance a lot of us didn’t pay much attention, seeing as how the Syfy channel is, well, not exactly known for their quality programming. I hate to admit, I was one of the fans that didn’t see it. Just yesterday, Shudder released the entire first season on their streaming service, and so I thought it would be fun to revisit the first episode, and holy hell, do I recommend you all do the same…

[Retro-Review] "Species": Sci-fi exploitation or underappreciated gem?

8/7/2018

(By Andres Gallego) - There are few movies that come to you at the right point in life. One of those films for myself was director Roger Donaldson’s SPECIES (1995). While there are many films that upon release are chalked up as schlocky science fiction exploitation films, Species is one of those rare films that not only was unfairly judged upon release, but it was bold and ahead of it’s time in many ways. There are very few films that offer the themes of female sexuality and empowerment wrapped in the guise of a Science fiction Creature feature…

[Review] "Heartless" is an entertaining descent into madness!

8/6/2018

Picture
For generations, The Tell-Tale Heart by legendary horror author, Edgar Allan Poe, has awed and inspired countless horror writers and filmmakers. Most fans are drawn to the themes of madness and guilt, metaphorically represented by the incessant pounding of a dead heart. Premiering at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival in August is the latest genre short film based off of the popular story, Heartless...
