In college, I once had an argument at a party that The Howling was an incredible film that deserved more respect. When I met with push back from everyone around me, I howled about it so loudly that I ended up getting the owner of the apartment fined due to a noise complaint. You know, the way a sane person would do. Ever since I first witnessed Joe Dante’s outrageous exhibition of werewolf effects and hair-raising humor, I have been a huge fan, which is why I’m thrilled to present this preview of The Complete History of the Howling…

Written by Bryn Curt James Hammond (A Case for Murder: Brittany Murphy Files), The Complete History of the Howling is the first book to ever dive into the entire Howling franchise with enough goods to make any werewolf fan salivate and sink their teeth into. The Howling has always been a fascinating franchise to me in that it managed to continue so long with a strong fanbase, despite critics tearing apart each successive entry. As far as I’m concerned, it’s The Howling franchise that molded and defined the modern werewolf film, NOT the more popular An American Werewolf in London, which should make The Complete History of the Howling a treat to digest by giving us a look at how this franchise managed to survive and do exactly that.

From the Press Release:
For the first time ever MIAMI FOX PUBLISHING presents the complete account of one of the most popular and iconic legendary film franchises in cinema history. When The Howling premiered in 1981 the film introduced cinema-goers to an all-new kind of movie monster – shocking, visceral, graphic and relentless. Spawning seven popular sequels to date, the series has become the most prosperous werewolf franchise of all time.

Bryn Curt James Hammond's (A Case for Murder: Brittany Murphy Files) The Complete History of The Howling is the first book to chronicle the making of all eight feature films and take an in-depth look at the film's source material by Gary Brandner, which began life in 1977 as a trilogy of books. It contains interviews with many of the surviving members of each production.

The Complete History of The Howling is richly illustrated and presents stunning pictorials recalling a quarter-century's worth of behind-the-scenes stories – the struggles, feuds, foibles, controversies and calamities.

Fully illustrated with never-before-seen photos, an all-new, unofficial story arc by Nick Stead (Hybrid), along with tracing the complex history of the wolf men from their earliest origins, this is the ultimate oral and visual memoir of the most successful werewolf horror franchise in the history of motion pictures.
So if you’re a fan of The Howling franchise or just love those hairy-flea bags known as werewolves as much as I do, make sure to pick up The Complete History of the Howling when it drops November 7th, 2018. You can also follow The Complete History of the Howling on Twitter here, and author Bryn Curt James Hammond here. Until then, take a sneak peak at some pages from the book and all their lycanthrope glory!
