No matter how many times I see it, there is one scene in the original Castle Freak that I'll never be able to fully stomach...
...This past Saturday, KHC hosted another night of #KillerSaturday on Twitter, an event in which we do a tweet-along of two horror films. We began with Stuart Gordon's cult classic, Castle Freak (1995), in which a family inherits a castle with a monstrous inhabitant, and we were lucky enough and honored to have star Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, You're Next) join us in the watch party!
At one point in the evening, we arrived at the forementioned scene in which a woman is assaulted by the "freak", who mixes sex with consumption in a horribly unsavory manner, a moment that is unforgettable for many horror fans. Afterwards, I posed a question to Barbara, asking if the Castle Freak remake which she is producing would have a scene that aimed to rival the terrifying moment. Here's what she had to say:
Now, that tweet obviously doesn't offer much detail, but what it does imply is that fans are in for a nasty surprise with the new Castle Freak, considering the fact that even the film's writer could barely stomach the moment! Which, let's be honest, is like music to Castle Freak fans' ears. At this moment, we still don't know a whole lot about the new film, and though we were already pretty excited, this tease from Barbara has us anxiously awaiting the return of the freak to screens.
