Christmas season is upon us...

...And with this time of holly jolly feelings and winter flurries comes a different joy for horror fans: the excuse to binge all of the yuletide terror our bellies can manage to fit in with all of the cookies and spiked eggnog!

To help you along with your Christmas horror consumption, I've compiled a list of every damn streaming Christmas horror film I could find. The films range from unmistakably Christmas to oh hey, someone mentioned Christmas during that one scene in this not very Christmas-y movie. I did not include every streaming service, sticking with Pluto TV, Prime, Tubi, Shudder, Hulu, Netflix and HBO Max, so there may be a film or two that I missed on this list. That being said, there's more than enough to keep the ho-ho-horror going for you well into January!

A work dinner party turns into a battle to the death for a promotion in this tense entry in Hulu and Blumhouse's 'Into the Dark' anthology series.

All the Creatures Were Stirring

A bizarre Christmas horror anthology that walks the line of weird more often than scary, with a white elephant game of death, aliens, vengeful deer, and more, and a wraparound where a couple on a blind date watches the stories being acted out in a small theater. Arguably the weirdest (in a good way) horror anthology of late.

An eerie Twilight Zone-like story in which a family gathering for Christmas find themselves trapped inside, their only knowledge of the situation a strange broadcast telling them to "await further instructions". Probably the only techno body-horror Christmas flick out there, and it's a good one.

A remake of the 1988 classic in which a boy receives a killer doll, only this time, Chucky (voiced wonderfully by Mark Hamill) is an electronic device with it's switch set to "evil" and not a doll possessed by a killer. Picture
Nekrotronic

Another one in which Christmas is barely acknowledged, the film is at least set around Christmas day and plays like 'Doom' meets 'Ghostbusters' in which a down and out loser learns that he is part of a group of warriors who hunt demons through the internet. It may not be very Christmas-y, but the film is a colorful beauty to look at!

Silent Night (2012)

A loose remake of 'Silent Night, Deadly Night' starring Malcolm McDowell, this film is a somehow even sleazier version of the original, trading a descent into madness for an over the top style as a killer Santa hacks his way through a small town.

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2

What started off as a recut of the original film became this cult favorite in which Ricky, the little brother of the killer in the first film, grows up to be just like big brother, a crazed lunatic played by Eric Freeman like a robot just discovering human emotion, and it is wild. Ricky tells his story, filling over half the runtime with footage from the original, but the additional footage makes it all so, so worth the rehash. Two movies for the price of one!

Streaming on: Prime, Tubi, Shudder, Pluto TV
Picture
Silent Night, Deadly Night III: Better Watch Out

And here's where the 'Silent Night, Deadly Night' franchise evolves into it's secondary Pokemon and goes from a killer Santa series to a bonkers story where Ricky returns (this time played by the great Bill Moseley), as a zombie-like killer with his brain in a bowl on his head who shares a psychic connection with a blind woman because...because he just does!

Streaming on: Tubi
Picture

This horror anthology only has one Christmas segment called "And All Through the House", but it's a good one, as it's based on the E.C. Comics story and features Joan Collins facing off against a psycho dressed like Santa, the first appearance of a killer Santa on film!

Streaming on: Tubi
Picture
The Children (2008)

Kids...they're never not scary. And they're especially creepy in this film about kids suddenly going zombie-brained and turning on their parents. Kill or be killed is a lot more difficult when what you have to kill is your own kid...fun for the whole family this Christmas!

It follows a woman who, sometime after the suicide of their mother, stays at an isolated cabin around Christmas with her soon to be step-kids (who hate her) while their dad is back in the city working. Not ideal! Things go from bad to worse when all of the supplies in the lodge suddenly goes missing, and the three realize they might either be dead or haunted or both.

Streaming on: Pluto TV
Picture
XX

An anthology horror film with each segment directed by women? Now that's a gift that keeps on giving! Only one of the shorts, "The Box", is set around Christmas, but it's directed by up and comer Jovanka Vuckovic ('Riot Girls') and written by the late horror author Jack Ketchum, the mind behind films such as 'The Woman'. Oh, and it's terrifying.
