Over at Blumhouse, the success never stops... ...Variety is reporting that Jason Blum's Blumhouse Television has joined Amazon in a deal to produce eight feature-length thrillers, all of which will be made available on the streaming service. Amazon studios chief Jennifer Salke had this to say while announcing the deal today: “Jason Blum has built an empire based on fear, shock and all things spine-tingling...He has redefined the horror genre for fans who are hungry for high concept scares. Whether it’s found footage, a socially conscious terror comedy or a pure sinister adrenaline ride, he reinvented and infused the genre with cultural relevancy.” Based on the quote, I expect these so called "thrillers" to lean heavily into the horror genre. This is great news for both companies, but especially Blumhouse, which is only continuing to expand into streaming services, having most recently partnered with Hulu for the Into the Dark series. At this time, there are no other details. By Matt Konopka
