Straight up, 2009s Orphan shocked the hell out of me, and it looks like we'll now get to know more about Esther... ...Via Deadline, director William Brent Bell, who sees his new film, Brahms: The Boy II releasing in theaters today, will next direct Esther, a prequel to the 2009 shocker, Orphan! In the original film, (SPOILER for those who haven't seen it), a young girl is adopted by a family, only to turn out to be a much older woman who also happens to be a murderer. Written by David Coggeshall, the film will take a deeper look into Esther's past. In Esther: "Lena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from a Russian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Lena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost." Producing is Dark Castle Entertainment’s Alex Mace, Hal Sadoff and Ethan Erwin with James Tomlinson. David Leslie Johnson will serve as an executive producer and Jen Gorton and Josie Liang will oversee for eOne. Filming is expected to start later this year. By Matt Konopka
