 Well this is some interesting news... ...Via Deadline, It Stains the Sand Red director Colin Minihan has been trapped to write/direct Urban Legend for Screen Gems! And no, it doesn't sound like a remake of the classic 90s slasher, Urban Legends, at least not officially. In Urband Legend: "('Urban Legend') introduces an iconic new slasher for the digital age in a world where internet urban legends are born and move at a terrifying pace. The movie will center on a diverse cast of college students as they navigate a series of bizarre deaths that resemble urban legends linked to the darkest corners of social media." This may not be a remake of Urban Legends (1998), though it certainly sounds like one for the modern age, so color us suspicious. If it's not a remake, that title is certainly going to cause some confusion. Producing the film is Mike Medavoy and Benjamin Anderson for Phoenix Pictures. Eric Paquette and Michael Bitar will oversee for Screen Gems. More details here as we learn them. By Matt Konopka
