"Whoever it is, they're targeting cops"... ...We've been waiting to see what the new Saw film from director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2-4) would look like, and now Lionsgate has released the first trailer, poster and official synopsis for the film! With a script from Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger and based off of a story from Chris Rock, the teaser for Spiral: From the Book of Saw presents exactly the sort of gritty imagery we expect, with a killer specifically targeting cops this time, and also confirms that this is not a reboot, but takes place in the same world as the previous films. Even just hearing the Saw theme again gave me goosebumps, as did hearing star Samuel L. Jackson call the killer a "motherfucker". In Spiral: From the Book of Saw: "A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game." The film was produced by Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Spiral: From the Book of Saw grinds into theaters on May 15th, 2020 from Lionsgate. By Matt Konopka
