![]() This March, Gravitas Ventures brings us Shepard... ...Today we are learning that Gravitas Ventures has acquired global rights to indie-thriller Shepard, which is directed by Jourdan McClure and written by Philip Landa, both of whom also produced through Dull Boy Films. In Shepard: "At the behest of his social worker, bullied 17-year-old Ray moves in with his Aunt and cousin Kim for his latest shot at a normal life. But for Ray, every new home placement is the same; getting tormented for being the weird, new kid. The one bright spot in this new town is his biology teacher, Mr. Dwyer, who encourages Ray to look to the future. Unfortunately, Kim’s boyfriend Eric views Ray as an ever-increasing rival for Kim’s attention and frames him for stealing booze from a liquor store. Just as Ray is about to be beaten by a baseball bat-wielding store clerk, a stranger cold-cocks the clerk. Ray is thunderstruck. This stranger is just the kind of guy Ray wishes he could be; a man of action with no regrets. And this dangerous, mysterious man, Shepard, sees something in Ray. He sympathizes with the struggles and pain Ray has experienced. An odd friendship forms, but Shepard is leading Ray down a violent path of vengeance from which there can be no return." Said Landa, “At its core, 'Shepard' is a cautionary tale about being so desperate for help that you place your trust in the wrong person and then a bad situation turns disastrous in a flash." The film stars Greg Proops (Whose Line is it Anyway?), Will Beinbrink (It: Chapter Two), Kurt Krause (American Crime), Kareem Grimes (All American), Paulina Alvarez (Party of Five) and Ashley Nicole Williams (Motherland: Fort Salem) Shepard will be available on both cable and VOD platforms on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
