There has been speculation as of late as to whether or not director/producer Guillermo del Toro would be backing a remake of the Shudder exclusive, Terrified, but it seems we now have confirmation... ...Del Toro, after all, always seems to be working on multiple projects (the man is a god), so it's not a surprise that he is often linked to various horror-related rumors out there. But THR is reporting that, while discussing his next film, Pinocchio, at the Marrakech Film Festival, del Toro was asked about the rumor regarding him and a remake of Spanish horror film, Terrified. Via THR: The prolific producer also confirmed that he is backing an English-language remake of the Argentinean horror film 'Terrified', with original director Demian Rugna on board to direct for Fox Searchlight." So there you have it! This is exciting news, because not only can we trust del Toro with just about any horror project, whether he is directing or simply producing, but the original Terrified is actually a damn scary film that could benefit from a remake, and with the original director on board to direct, the film should retain a lot of what made it so effective in the first place (you can check out my review here). In Terrified: "When strange events occur in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires, a doctor specializing in the paranormal, her colleague, and an ex police officer decide to investigate further." While we wait for further news on the remake, check out the trailer below, and if you have the courage, check out what many are calling one of the scariest horror films of the year on Shudder.
