Gustavo Santaolalla, Composer for 'The Last of Us' Games, Will Also Do the Score for the HBO Series!3/12/2020
It truly wouldn't be The Last of Us without Gustavo Santaolalla...
...Last night, creator of The Last of Us Neil Druckmann posted on his Twitter that composer Gustavo Santaolalla, who composed the music for both The Last of Us games, will also score the upcoming series adaptation for HBO! This is great news, because personally, it just isn't The Last of Us without Santaolalla's score. A big part of what made that first game so special was the lonely, melancholic music drifting throughout and filling the player with a deep sadness and, at rare times, hope.
In The Last of Us:
"Set in post-apocalyptic United States, the game tells the story of survivors Joel and Ellie as they work together to survive their westward journey across what remains of the country to find a possible cure for the modern fungal plague that has nearly decimated the entire human race."
Craig Mazin is developing the series for HBO and is writing/executive producing along with Druckmann.
