 A killer mermaid horror-comedy series? Yes, please!.... ...Via Deadline, ViacomCBS teen brand Awesomeness is developing horror-comedy series "Mer" from creators Julie Lake ("Orange is the New Black") and Liz Storm (Shelly), with Laura Prepon ("That 70s Show") attached to executive produce and direct! In "Mer": "The series explores a young woman grappling with newfound power and female metamorphosis through the point of view of a marginalized townie turned killer mermaid. The satirical horror-comedy unpacks feminist themes through the eyes of a girl who must live with the dual demands of her bleeding heart and a sudden urge to eat people." Lake and Storm are also executive producing. Between shows like "Siren" and the recent horror musical flick, Lure, we hope mermaids are on their way to making a comeback, because who doesn't love deadly fish women? By Matt Konopka
