Sundance hasn't even started yet, but Netflix is already making moves... ...Via Deadline, Netflix has acquired writer/director Remi Weekes new film, His House, which premieres Monday during the Midnight Section at Sundance. Weekes co-wrote the film with Felicity Evans and Toby Venables. In His House: "A young refugee couple makes a harrowing escape from war-torn Sudan, and then struggle to adjust to their new life in a small English town that has an evil lurking beneath the surface." Something tells me that evil is going to be a sinister Matt Smith (Doctor Who), who stars in the film and is quite good at being creepy, but we shall see. Also starring are Wunmi Mosaku (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), and Sope Dirisu (The Huntsman: Winter’s War). His House is a co-production between New Regency and BBC, and produced by New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee, Martin Gentles and Edward King of Starchild Pictures and Aidan Elliott in association with BBC. The executive producers are New Regency’s Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer and Natalie Lehman; BBC Films’ Eva Yates; Stuart Manashil; and Steven Schneider. By Matt Konopka
