Sidney Prescott could be making a return to the big screen...
...Via Bloody Disgusting, Neve Campbell, star of the previous four Scream films originally created by Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson, spoke with Youtube's Jake Hamilton the other day and discussed the fact that she has been in talks with the duo behind the upcoming new Scream film, Ready or Not's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett!
According to the site, Campbell had this to say: “They’ve come to me and we’re having conversations...I originally had been really apprehensive about doing another 'Scream' without Wes because he was such a genius and he is the reason they are what they are but the directors have come to me with such a great appreciation for Wes’s work and they really want to honor it and that meant a lot to me...Hopefully we’ll be able to do it."
Based on that, it sounds like Olpin and Gillett have something in mind for more Sidney Prescott. The curious thing though is, how big of a role? Would it be to star in the film, or would it be to meet an unfortunate and possibly early end, as we saw with Cotton in Scream 3? We only ask because, with the project already in motion and Neve not yet attached, one has to wonder just how central to this new story Sidney would be.
Either way, this is exciting news, and we're all hoping to see the return of Sidney in a new Scream, even it is for the last time.
