Nickelodeon Renews the 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' Reboot For a Second Season!

...Via Deadline, we're learning today that Nickelodeon has renewed the Are You Afraid of the Dark? reboot for a second season! Based on the 90s horror anthology show which practically raised many of us horror fans, the series released in 2019 and follows a group of kids known as The Midnight Society who tell a terrifying tale at each gathering. The new iteration of Are You Afraid of the Dark? was created by BenDavid Grabinski, Ned Kandel and D.J. MacHale. The three-episode return went against the grain of what we expect from Are You Afraid of the Dark?, telling one complete story rather than following an anthology format, and left fans on a shocking cliffhanger that had those of us familiar with the 90s series drooling blue goop. 

It took long enough, but it makes sense that Nickelodeon has renewed Are You Afraid of the Dark? for a second season, as the reboot was a huge hit and garnered a ton of viewers. The site doesn't report if the creators of the reboot or new cast will be returning, but let's hope so, because they were all fantastic.
