Best friends. Skinny dipping. Demonic possessions. What more could you want in a fun-filled evening? It seems we'll be finding out, as the team behind Happy Death Day has tapped popular horror novel, My Best Friend's Exorcism, for an adaptation...

...written by Grady Hendrix, My Best Friend's Exorcism hit the scene in 2016, and has been described as Beaches, but with demons and exorcisms. What's not to like? Apparently not a lot, as the novel was named one of Paste magazines "50 best horror novels of all time".

Via THR, the rights to the novel have been picked up by Endeavor content, with writer/director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) producing, along with Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (Dead Space: Downfall). Landon may also direct, but that has yet to be confirmed. Jenna Lamia (90210) is set to write the adaptation.
The story is set in 1988 and followed the relationship of two best friends, Abby and Gretchen. After an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act more and more different, as Abby slowly comes to believe her friend has become demonically possessed. Both girls must soon face a tough question: is their friendship strong enough to beat the Devil?"
Personally, this sounds like it has a little Jennifer's Body to it, which is a much more entertaining film than fans give it credit for. Coming from the creators of Happy Death Day, I have no doubt in my mind that My Best Friend's Exorcism will be a satanic blast.
