The King of the monsters has taken one step closer to returning to the big screen, as post-production has finished on Godzilla: King of the Monsters...

...As we all wait in anticipation for Godzilla to smash his way back into theaters, writer/director Michael Dougherty (Trick 'r Treat) released the following photo today, implying that post production on the epic beast has finished.

It is done. With love and gratitude to the thousands of talented people all around the world who helped make this lifelong dream a reality. In Godzilla we trust. @GodzillaMovie pic.twitter.com/JnPoqFoXHY

This is an exciting time for Godzilla fans, which includes myself. I for one still consider Dougherty to have been the best possible choice whom Legendary could have hired for the epic sequel to the 2014 film Godzilla. Believe it or not, the Godzilla franchise got me through some tough times a few years back. Ever since devouring every badass giant monster film featuring our green hero, I have wished for a new Godzilla film which would feature King Ghidorah in all of his three-headed glory, and on May 31rst, 2019 (my birthday, of all days), that wish will come true.

In Godzilla: King of the Monsters:
"The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah."
Fans are already speculating that we could be getting another trailer soon, now that the film is officially finished. In the meantime, watch the first, awe-inducing trailer again while we wait!
