We've lost another horror legend... ...Via THR, Max Von Sydow, the legendary actor from such horror flicks as The Seventh Seal and The Exorcist, has died at his home in France. Von Sydow was ninety years old Von Sydow's wife, Catherine Von Sydow, said Monday, "It's with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max Von Sydow on March 8, 2020." Sydow had a long career with over 150 acting credits to his name, but for horror fans, he is best remembered as Father Merrin in The Exorcist, a troubled man who is forced to face the evil that has been plaguing his life for decades. Many fans forget that Sydow was just around forty years old when he played the part of the much older Merrin, a testament to the actor's incredible talent in so brilliantly portraying the decrepit priest. The actor recently appeared in Game of Thrones as the Three-Eyed Raven and in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens as Lor San Tekka. He was nominated for Academy Awards for best supporting actor in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and best actor in Pelle erobreren. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Decades from now, we'll all still be shouting "the power of Christ compels you", and that's because of the power of Sydow's performance. By Matt Konopka
