Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) and his producing label Ghost House Pictures have gone all the way back to the 80s to dig up a horror novel for adaptation in The Shrine... ...Deadline is reporting that the novel, published in 1983 and written by James Herbert, will be produced by Raimi, with Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast) writing/directing for Screen Gems. In The Shrine: A disgraced journalist who discovers a series of seemingly divine miracles in a small New England town and uses them to resurrect his career. But the “miracles” may have a much darker source." James Herbert passed away in 2013, but according to Deadline, Stephen King himself once said that the late author’s “books were best sellers because many readers were too horrified to put them down.” By Matt Konopka
