 Sharks, killers whales, and Sam Worthington, oh my!... ...Via Screen Daily, Sam Worthington (Avatar) is in talks to star in Alphas, a film from director Steven Quale (Final Destination 5)! Written by Frank Hannah (The Cooler), the high-seas horror adventure sounds completely bananas, in all of the best ways. In Alphas: "An environmentalist must convince the owner of a killer whale sanctuary to unleash the orca that nearly killed her in an attempt to drive away a spiraling Great White shark population led by a fierce alpha shark." Um, what? Also, um, hell yeah? Knowing Quale's work, it's safe to expect something wildly entertaining with Alphas, at the very least. Producing are Pierre Morel and Endurance's Steve Richards, alongside Sentient's Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin. Sentient's Jake Martin and Square One's Al Munteanu will executive produce along with Voltage Pictures' Jonathan Deckter and Nicolas Chartier. By Matt Konopka
