'Silent Night, Deadly Night' Franchise to Get Naughty Again with Planned Remake in the Works!3/2/2021 Santa is about to get naughty again... ...Via Deadline, Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios have acquired remake rights to the controversial 1984 slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night, which was directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr. and was one of the earlier films to feature a killer Santa, an idea which drove parents nuts at the time and led to protests against the film. In the original film: "Little Billy witnesses his parents getting killed by Santa after being warned by his grandpa that Santa punishes those who are naughty. Now Billy is 18, and decides to put on a Santa suit and go on a killing spree to punish all of those who are naughty." Silent Night, Deadly Night spawned four sequels and a 2012 remake, all of which I personally enjoy for their over-the-top lunacy. The project was brought to Orwo by producer Anthony Masi of MasiMedia. Masi will produce along with Jake Seal, Terry Bird, and Jamie R. Thompson of Orwo Studios/Black Hangar. Orwo Studios is financing and representing world sales rights. The original film’s producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead of Wonderwheel Entertainment are also aboard, with a planned delivery date in 2022. The site notes Orwo is beginning sales out of EFM. More details here as we learn them. By Matt Konopka
