![]() George Romero's work lives on... ...Via Deadline, Syfy has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order for Day of the Dead, a show based on George Romero's 1985 film of the same name from Cartel Entertainment! Written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, the series will take us all the way back to the first 24 hours of the zombie outbreak! In Day of the Dead: "Six strangers try to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. This ode to Romero’s famous flesh-eaters reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry zombies trying to rip them apart." Known for its insanely good practical FX, Day of the Dead is considered by some to be the best in the series, as it directly pits the good and evil in humankind against one another in the midst of some very nasty flesh eaters. Romero's films have always been about character first, so it will be exciting to see a show set in his world which is given time to dig deep into who these people are. Stan Spry, Jeff Holland and Drew Brown will executive produce on behalf of Cartel Entertainment, along with Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson and Jordan Kizwani from HiTide Studios. Day of the Dead is expected to arrive on Syfy in 2021. By Matt Konopka
