Not familiar with the Blind Dead series? You may want to change that... ...Synapse Films has announced that they will be releasing an uncut, restored special edition of the classic Spanish horror flick, Tombs of the Blind Dead (1972) on Blu-ray/DVD later this year! For those unfamiliar, the film is directed by Amando de Ossorio and is considered a zombie classic, one that went on to spawn three sequels, all of which are equally enjoyable. In Tombs of the Blind Dead: "In the 13th century there existed a legion of evil knights known as the Templars, who quested for eternal life by drinking human blood and committing sacrifices. Executed for their unholy deeds, the Templars bodies were left out for the crows to peck out their eyes. Now, in modern day Portugal, a group of people stumble on the Templars abandoned monastery, reviving their rotting corpses to terrorize the land." I recently binged all four films, Tombs of the Blind Dead (1972), Return of the Blind Dead (1973), The Ghost Galleon (1974) and Night of the Seagulls (1975), all of which can be streamed on Amazon Prime! I enjoyed these films so much, I watched all four in the same night, so that should tell you how excited I personally am for this. At this time, there are no special features listed, other than the disc will contain the full uncut version, as well as the U.S. version. Check out the original trailer below! By Matt Konopka
