The more footage I see from The Grudge, the more I legitimately cannot wait to see it... ...Produced by Sam Raimi and written/directed by Niclas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother), The Grudge is based on the film Ju-on: The Grudge, written and directed by Takashi Shimizu. Columbia Pictures released a couple new clips from the film today, and to say they are creepy would be an understatement. In one, we see John Cho confronting a nasty surprise in the bath, while in the other, Lin Shaye is caught playing peek-a-boo with an imaginary friend. Both encapsulate the sort of strange, eerie style I've come to associate with Pesce, and I'm telling you right now, based off of what I've seen from Shaye, I think she's going to end up having one of the most terrifying performances of the year. You can find both clips below. In The Grudge: "A detective (Andrea Riseborough) investigates a string of deaths all stemming from an old house. When she enters the house, a violent curse latches onto her, one that brings about Kayako and her iconic, long black hair." The film also stars Betty Gilpin, Jacki Weaver, Demian Bichir, William Sadler, and Frankie Faison. Don't miss The Grudge when it haunts theaters on January 3rd, 2020. By Matt Konopka
