![]() I've been excited for the Guillermo del Toro produced Antlers ever since its announcement. The first trailer chilled me to the bone, but left some ambiguity. With this final trailer, there is no doubt that we are dealing with one hell of a fearsome monster!... ...Based on the short story "The Quiet Boy' by Nick Antosca (Channel Zero), Antlers is written by Antosca, Scott Cooper, and C. Henry Chaisson, and directed by Cooper (Black Mass) for Fox Searchlight Pictures. Based on the last trailer, we knew the film was going to be frightening, but this final trailer reveals that we are indeed dealing with a terrifying monster. It's already been speculated that the film deals with a Wendigo creature, and the trailer seems to hint that what our heroes are dealing with is in fact a Wendigo, a creature of Native American mythology that, to this point, has been used sparingly in horror, and rarely done well. At one point during the trailer, you can hear a character whispering "Wendigo" over and over again, so if that's indeed what it is, this could be an amazing entry into that very small sub-genre. Check it out below and get excited. This is going to be a good one. In Antlers: A small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, become entwined with a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences." Antlers terrorizes theaters April 17th, 2020. By Matt Konopka
