He's back and bigger than ever...well, sort of. We've been aware for a while now that our favorite horror irishman would be returning, and now we have a trailer for what looks like a dumb, fun time in Leprechaun Returns...

...Directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void), Leprechaun Returns is now the eight film in the franchise, but will be the FIRST direct sequel to the original 1993 film!

In the sequel:
"When the sorority sisters of the Alpha Upsilon house decide to go green and use an old well as their water source, they unwittingly awaken a pint-sized, green-clad monster. The Leprechaun wants a pot of gold buried near the sorority house, but first he must recover his powers with a killing spree — and only the girls of AU can stop him."
Leprechaun Returns will also feature Mark Holton, reprising his role as Ozzie from the first film! Unfortunately, fan favorite Warwick Davis is NOT back as the titular murderous green man, this time played by Linden Porco (Channel Zero: Butcher's Block). While its disappointing that Davis will not be returning in the role that has endeared him to horror fans hearts, I will admit that Porco appears to have done an excellent job in filling his shoes.

Either way, it's exciting to see that the franchise will be returning to his absurd, comedic roots, unlike that awful tone-deaf 2014 reboot, Leprechaun: Origins. Not to mention, with an R-rating and Kostanski at the helm, we're sure to get plenty of gore and outlandish effects in this one, which is all you can really ask for from the Leprechaun franchise.

Leprechaun Returns releases on Digital and On Demand December 11th, 2018.
