What will you decide?...

...As technology advances and filmmakers look for new ways to create unforgettable experiences for viewers, the world of interactive movie-watching is becoming a thing, and that's incredibly exciting, because it places viewers directly into the shoes of the main character, putting the pressure on them to make the right decisions and ultimately creating a rewarding experience that offers plenty of rewatch value.

Hot off the hells of Black Mirror's interactive episode, Bandersnatch, a trailer has been released for director Paul Raschid's The Complex, a new interactive sci-fi thriller experience that forces viewers into tough decisions within an all-too timely story centered around bio-weapons and disease. Renee Maxcy (The Handmaid's Tale) penned the script, which was developed and produced by John Giwa-Amu on behalf of Red & Black Films and Jade Alexander of Little Jade Productions in association with Brockway Pictures Limited, Great Point Media and Good Gate Media, with the multi award-winning video games company Wales Interactive acting as the technology developer and publisher of the film.

In The Complex:
"In the wake of a major bio-weapons attack on London, two scientists find themselves locked down in a laboratory racing against time to stem the outbreak of a potentially devastating pandemic. A leader in the advancement of Nanocell technology, Dr Amy Tenant must jump into action to contain the threat, but with a series of life or death decisions to be made, the fate of the nation will ultimately rest in your hands alone. With 8 separate outcomes available within this interactive outbreak thriller – will you make the right choice?"
The film stars Kim Adis (The Turning), Michelle Mylett (Letterkenny, Bad Blood), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, The Witch) Al Weaver (Grantchester, Collette, Peterloo) and Twitch streamer and former Xbox UK presenter Leah Viathan.

From the release: "The interactive film is highly unique in that it offers multi-optional storytelling with 8 different outcomes; a real-time Relationship Status Tracking that influences the story as you play and a real-time Personality Trait Tracking that evolves based on your choices.

Relationship Tracking

Throughout the game you will interact with characters and — depending on your choices — will either strengthen or weaken your relationship. The relationship scores are calculated from the start right through to the very end and will affect certain scenarios as well as having major consequences in the concluding scenes.

Personality Tracking

For every decision you make, every interaction, your character’s personality is being tracked. At the end of each playthrough, you are rewarded with a Personality Score and a breakdown to see how you played the game. Discover the five basic dimensions of a personality; openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Which of those will your character play?

After a major bio-weapon attack on London, two scientists find themselves in a locked-down laboratory with time, and air, running out. With choose-your-own-adventure style gameplay, your actions and your relationship with other characters will lead you to one of eight suspenseful endings.

Having treated the victims of a chemical attack in the totalitarian state of Kindar, Dr Amy Tenant (Michelle Mylett) is a leader in the advancement of Nanocell Technology. Now, in London, news breaks of a blood-vomiting civilian whose identity is far from coincidental. Reunited with an old friend, Amy is trapped in an impenetrable HQ of laboratories—a womb of scientific advancement with a perilous secret."

Experience The Complex and make your choice when it releases worldwide through PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on 31st March 2020.
