It's funny, the way art often imitates life... ...Via Variety, a new zombie pandemic film in what sounds like the vein of Train to Busan and 28 Days Later entitled Virus 32, is coming to Cannes from director Gustavo Hernandez! In Virus 32, written by Juma Fodde Roma: "A new virus transforms people into intelligent, ultra-violent, extra-fast zombie hunters. A single mother Iris, is the night guard of an abandoned sports club, who has her daughter, Tata, with her when the outbreak begins. Zombie hunters invade the complex, as she tries to recover her daughter." The film stars Malena Sanchez and Esteban Lamothe. The story is said to unroll over a 24-hour period and was written before the Covid-19 pandemic, making it just another example and art imitating/predicting life. Shooting is currently on standby because of the pandemic. Said Hernandez in regards to the film and the pandemic, "What we are experiencing now through the global pandemic has helped us understand this fear, which was only fiction, but is now part of our lives. The pandemic did not only attack people’s health but also the world’s economies. As a result many cities see violence and murder go up." More details here as we learn them. By Matt Konopka
