Today, film has lost one of the greatest composers of all time...

...As we're sure many of you have heard by now, Ennio Morricone, composer of such scores as John Carpenter's The Thing, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, The Hateful Eight, The Untouchables, and so many more, has passed away at the age of 91.

Morricone was, without a doubt, one of the greatest film composers to have ever lived, having composed countless melodies that are beautiful, tragic, terrifying, and most importantly, reflect the human condition and the wonder that is life.

So, we decided, as a tribute to the composer, to put together a brief playlist below of his work.
Being the horror site that we are, most of the tunes below are from Morricone's genre work, such as Orca, The Thing, Wolf, and others. The below list is by no means a featuring of his "best" work, but a list which we hope inspires you to listen to more of his music today, and perhaps become more familiar with his melodies if you weren't before.

Please take a listen, enjoy, and remember the legendary maestro. May he rest in peace.
