Let's be honest. Very few video game adaptations have turned out well, especially for horror films. I mean come on, Doom, anyone? But there is hope with this next one, as there is simply too much of a great story in Gears of War to screw up, right? Right?... ...Well, we won't have to wait too much longer to get a sense for how the Gears of War adaptation will turn out, as the film now, via The Wrap, officially has a writer in screenwriter F. Scott Frazier (xXx: Return of Xander Cage). While Frazier doesn't exactly have a glowing resume, it's clear he has a knack for action, which is about 75% of the battle with adapting Gears of War. The game, created by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Studios, focuses on: The conflict between humanity, the subterranean reptilian hominids known as the Locust Horde, and their mutated counterparts, the Lambent & the Swarm For those that have never played any of the entries in the franchise, (there are a few), the series is an epic, bloody, action-packed experience overloaded with gruesome creatures and several horrific ways to die. Universal Pictures optioned the film back in 2016. Dylan Clark (Planet of the Apes series) will produce for his Dylan Clark Productions alongside Gears of War co-creator Rod Fergusson. Scott Stuber (Identity Thief) will executive produce. By Matt Konopka
