Zac Efron Cast in the Remake of Stephen King's 'Firestarter'!

...KHC has learned that Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile) has been cast in the remake of Stephen King's Firestarter (1984), coming from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Weed Road Productions! At this time, we do not know which role Efron will play in the film, which is being directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil).

In Firestarter, which is being adapted by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills): 

"A young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon."

Jason Blum and Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman will produce. Martha De Laurentiis, who was an associate producer on the 1984 adaptation of Firestarter starring a young Drew Barrymore, will executive produce.
