 Did Hell just freeze over?... ...Via Variety, HBO is developing a Hellraiser series based on the popular franchise first introduced to fans by Clive Barker, with David Gordon Green (Halloween 2018) directing and a script being written by Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Trick 'R Treat)! This news comes on the hells of the report that David Bruckner (The Ritual) is also directing a Hellraiser reboot. Via the site, the series is not a reboot, but "an elevated continuation and expansion" of the Hellraiser mythology. The reason we ask if Hell is freezing over is because, after so long of the franchise being stuck in Dimension hell, churning out disappointing direct-to-video sequel after disappointing direct-to-video sequel, the heart of the franchise is pumping blood again and ready to burst through the floorboards with not one but TWO exciting projects coming our way! Hell. Yes. Verheiden and Dougherty will be executive producing, along with Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and Brandon James for Rough House Pictures, Lawrence Kuppin and David Salzman, Dan Farah for Farah Films, Roy Lee for Vertigo Entertainment, and Eric Gardner for Panacea Entertainment.
